Helensburgh's Time Bank

Time Bank at Helensburgh Volunteer Centre

Jackie recently visited the Volunteer Centre in Helensburgh and met people who had attended the Steps to Excellence course organised by the Centre.  All spoke very highly of their experience saying it had made them more confident.

One new initiative is the Time Bank.  This is a system in which people offer their skills, whatever they may be, and use these skills to help others.  For every hour you spend, you earn one credit and you can exchange these credits with others so you can use the skills they have to help you.  You can also donate your time credit to other who might need the help more than you.  Some of the skills on offer range from babysitting to accounting.

This project is flexible and has no strict time plan, you just help when you can.

If you are interested you should contact the Volunteer Centre at 30 West King Street, Helensburgh, G84 8EB, telephone 01436 671613.
